Mission Statement
Red, White & Blue seeks to reawaken public consciousness around the meaning, complexity, and relevance of the American Bill of Rights. The project invites viewers to confront how these foundational freedoms intersect with the intimate, often challenging realities of everyday people.
10 stories. 10 filmmakers. For the people. By the people.
Red, White & Blue was first conceived in the early 2000’s as a response to the prevailing political and artistic climates. It was the perfect melding of both our creative and social concerns. While we were eager to use our collective talents to motivate social engagement, we did not want to be didactic. Like Kieslowski’s “Dekalog”, we wanted to approach these stories subtly - from a human, rather than idealogical, perspective. In essence, we wanted to tell good stories while provoking deep questions about justice, identity, responsibility, and freedom in a modern democracy.
Now, years later, we find ourselves in an even more challenging political/social/artistic climate, putting this project at the peak of its relevancy…along with our passion for finally bringing it to fruition.
Why A Film on the Bill of Rights Must Be Made RIGHT NOW
The rights we take for granted are under siege. The very foundations of democracy, once believed unshakable, are being dismantled before our eyes. This film shines a light on those dangers and reminds us why the Bill of Rights was written in the first place.
First Amendment under attack — Free speech, press, and assembly are being threatened through intimidation and suppression of dissent.
Erosion of due process and equal protection — People are being detained without hearings, deported unjustly, and denied justice selectively.
Misuse of power and law enforcement — Military and federal agencies are being deployed to instill fear instead of protecting rights.
Undermining checks and balances — Congress enables abuses instead of restraining them, while the judiciary bends under political influence.
Threats to democracy itself — Elections are manipulated, districts gerrymandered, and the rule of law disregarded.
The urgency of remembrance — The Bill of Rights was created to guard against these exact abuses. Now more than ever, we must remind the public of its meaning to preserve our democracy.

Why THIS Film?
We’ve designed this film to be told through a deeply human lens, transforming what can often feel like abstract rights into personal, lived experiences. Each amendment is brought to life cinematically, interpreted not as distant legal text but as stories that touch people directly. The film is guided by four core goals:
Creating compelling stories.
Maximizing the cinematic opportunities therein.
Creating empathy for, and understanding of, the complex, unheralded people in this country who are directly affected by the laws under which we choose to govern ourselves.
Exploring - even questioning - the underlying spirit of the American Bill of Rights.
